Michele Mangani was born in Urbino, graduated from the Conservatory “Gioachino Rossini" of Pesaro in CLARINETTO in 1984, in BAND INSTRUMENTATION in 1987, in COMPOSITION in 1990, in ORCHESTRA DIRECTION in 1992, and from the Conservatory "GB Martini" of Bologna in CHORAL MUSIC AND CORAL DIRECTION in 1988.
He collaborated with the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana as 1st Clarinet in 1985 and 1989 and as a member of the group "Assieme en plein air" played the Basset Horn.
He holds concerts in various duo, trio, quartet and quintet.
In 1985 he began working as an acting director in several cities in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino, including the Orchestra of wind instruments of Cappella del SS. Sacramento of Urbino and the Corpo Bandistico di Candelara (Pesaro), which he still directs.
He has directed several both wind and arched chamber groups, including Ensemble di fiati della Cappella del SS. Sacramento of Urbino and the Ensemble Colonne di Armonie, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Filarmonica Urbinate and the Orchestra Sinfonica Pesarese.
In 1993 he was awarded the second place at the national competition in State Conservatories of Music.
In 1996 he won the National Competition for Teacher Band Director of the Italian Army.
He participated as a collaborator of the M° Lorenzo Della Fonte at the Course for Band Directors of the "Giovanile Orchestra di Fiati" organized by the European Social Fund, held in Ripatransone in the years 1998/1999/2000.
In September 2001 and 2002 he was requested at the "Settimana di studio per direzione, esecuzione e cultura bandistica", as a teacher collaborator of the M° Eugene Migliaro Corporon (Director of the North Texas Symphonic Wind USA).
In January 2002 he worked as a composer with the Nobel Laureate Dario Fo, writing songs for the theatrical performances of the Itinerant Event Entertainment, in the Carnival of Fano.
In 1983 he was given an award for the 3rd National composition "DIAPASON SILVER" - Fair Millenaria of Gonzaga (MN).
In 1988 his composition of the song "Fantasia Marchigiana" received considerate success in the national competition for band and choral compositions inspired to the folklore of Marche.
In January 2000 his song "Aubade" was awarded on the occasion of the 1st National Competition for Original Band Compositions organized by the Foundation Institute of Musical Valle d'Aosta.
In April 2000 he received the report with the publication of The National Processing Choral singing of a popular song of Valle d'Aosta.
In September 2001 was awarded the 3rd prize with publication on the 1st National Competition for Band Compositions “Pellegrino Caso” in Vietri sul Mare (SA) with the song "Irregular Suite".
In 2002 he won the 1st prize at the National Competition for Band composition in Adro (BS) with the song "Three Symphonic Dances".
In June 2003 he won the 1st prize with publication on the 3rd National Competition for Band Compositions "Pellegrino Caso" in Vietri sul Mare (SA) with the song "Contrasts".
In June 2004 he won the 3rd prize at the 4th National Competition for Band Compositions "Pellegrino Caso" in Vietri sul Mare (SA) with the song "Core and Pluto".
In July 2004 he won the 1st prize at the European design of a composition inspired by the values of education and sport launched the project transnational "Education and sports: values without borders" with the song "Olympic Fanfare".
In August 2005 he won the 1st prize with publication to 1st International Competition for Band Composition on "Villotte Friuliane" of Udine with the composition "Friuli's folk songs and dances".
In August 2006 he won the 2nd prize in the cat. A (first vacant) and with the song "English Suite N.1" 2nd prize in the cat. B (first vacant) at the 1st International Competition for Original Band Compositions "Città di Sinnai" (CA) with the composition "Sardinia Rhapsody".
In January 2007 he won the 2nd prize in the first category (the first vacant) and with the song "Dynamic Concert" 2nd prize in the Third category at the 1st International Competition for Band Composition "La prime Lûs" in Bertiolo (UD) with the composition "Three Symphonic Pictures".
In July 2008 he received the signaling for the musical composition "La montagna sacra " to the 2nd International Competition for Original Young Band Compositions "Città di Sinnai" (CA) .
In March 2009 he won the 1st prize with the song "Centum March" on the 1st National Competition for the composition of a marching band held by the Band F. Marchiori of Polpenazze del Garda (BS) on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of the foundation.
In May 2010 he won the 2nd prize cat. A with the song "Il Piccolo Principe" and the 1st prize cat. B with the song "Spring Music" at the 3rd International Competition for Original Fildena Young Band Compositions "Città di Sinnai" (CA). In April 2012 he won the 2nd prize cat. C with the song "The toys' box" at the 4th International Competition for Original Young Band Compositions "Città di Sinnai" (CA).
In March 2014 he won the 1st prize cat. B with the music "The Butterfly Island", the 2st prize cat. B with the music "Circus Parade" and the signaling cat. A for the musical composition
"Children's Fanfare" at the 5th International Competition for Original Young Band Compositions "Città di Sinnai" (CA).
The May 30, 2008 he conducted the wind Orchestra of the "G. Rossini" Conservatory in the gardens of the Quirinal Palace during the celebration of the Spring Festival dedicated to the International Year of Planet Earth, in the presence of head of state Giorgio Napolitano.
In May 2008 the Geology Institute of the University of Urbino "Carlo Bo", as part of initiatives to celebrate the International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) proclaimed for 2008 and to celebrate the "Geology Day", sponsored by International Union of Geological Sciences and by UNESCO, commissioned him the World Anthem of the Geologists "Fanfare and Theme for the Planet Earth", performed in concert preview at the Quirinal Palace.
As a composer, he is the author of many pieces for chamber ensembles from the duo to decimino and choir, but his biggest production to be found in Band and Symphonic Band music, for which he wrote, between original compositions and transcriptions, about 200 titles, many of which have been published and engraved by Edizioni Musicali Eufonia.
His compositions are often included as a must in competitions for winds and bands, where he is often invited as a member of the jury.
Several bands and wind instruments orchestras, including Band of the Army and the National Music Band of the Italian Navy, have recorded his compositions.
He is a founding member, artistic director and conductor of the Marche Wind Orchestra. As Director of this musical institution, he has worked with internationally renowned soloists such as Fabrizio Meloni, the first clarinet soloist of the Orchestra of Scala in Milan, Nury Guarnaschelli, the first horn of the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Vienna, Marco Pierobon, the first trumpet of the National Academy Orchestra “S. Cecilia” in Rome.
He has a permanent position as a teacher of Music Ensemble for Wind Instruments at the Conservatory “G. Rossini” in Pesaro.
